The starting point of most of Rayyane Tabet’s (Lebanon, 1983) projects and subsequent artworks is the exploration of stories that offer an alternative understanding of major events through individual narratives.

By means of self-directed research and often appropriating existing items and materials, Tabet’s sculptures seek to articulate the history of certain objects through a subjective reading embedded with biographical notes made by the artist and/or people he encounters during the project’s creation.

Invited by the Fondazione Antonio Dalle Nogare to inaugurate the program of exhibitions at the newly conceived Foundation, the artist embarked on a year-long research project into the multiple histories of Bolzano and South Tyrol. The result, entitled Fault Line, is a large site-specific installation composed of three different elements (marble, steel and a painting), which, on one hand, represent three layers of the region’s landscape and, on the other, mirror three different socio-economical moments in the history of Bolzano and the South Tyrol.
