One event composed of two performances. First the music performance Shuffle by Christian Marclay, followed by the italian premiere of the dance performance The Act of LemoDada by Akemi Takeya
Shuffle by Christian Marclay
With an eclectic taste in music, English bass clarinettist Gareth Davis moves from contemporary classical and orchestral music to free improvisation, rock, noise and electronica in his recordings, projects and performances. Davis himself describes SHUFFLE by Christian Marclay, with which Davis will be performing at Transart, as a kind of game. Marclay, who was born in California in 1955 and grew up in Geneva, is a composer and visual artist. During Shuffle, musicians are confronted with cards drawn at random from a deck.
Act of LemoDada by Akemi Takeya
Lemons are the central motif in the work of artist Akemi Takeya. Under the title Lemonism, the artist has been focusing her work on this sour citrus fruit since 2015. With her new work “The Act of Lemodada”, she brings the Dadaism of the 1910s and 1920s into the 21st century as anti-bourgeois, anti-war counter-art: “The Act of LemoDada is an encounter with the present, a search for utopia, a confrontation between body and lemon, original and copy, tragedy and comedy, nonsense and sense. “Who wins the absurd battle ‘Lemo(n) vs. Dada’ is of secondary importance: There’s nothing to lose anyway!” (Takeya). Takeya’s “lemonist” confrontation with various movements in art history became her own personal “ism”: Lemonism. Beginning with LEMONISM x ACTIONISM, then JAPONISM, MINIMALISM, SYMBOLISM and DADAISM, various -isms were paraphrased and finally brought together to form Takeya’s own unique artistic world.
